Welcome Back

August 18, 2022

 Dear Maple Run Community,

Wow, the end of summer vacation is approaching fast! I am excited to see all our students back for the first day of school on August 31st. Soon we will be back to reconnect and join together to ensure each and every child in Maple Run has access to a nurturing learning environment. Reflecting on our previous school year, I am awestruck by the resilience of the students and the efforts of the MRUSD staff to keep the district open and provide high-quality learning opportunities. I am truly proud to serve as your superintendent. Throughout the year, I saw countless examples of the adults and students engaging with each other in relationship building, which created our great learning communities.

You should have received communication from your school with key information for the start of the school year. If you have not, please reach out to your school. COVID guidelines will be very similar to the end of the last school year. For the current guidelines please visit the following link, Reopening COVID Guidelines. The one-hour early dismissal for preschool through grade eight (8) will be held on Wednesdays again this year, including August 31st, the first day of school. Please visit the Early Release FAQs to review further information, also located at maplerun.org under the “Parents & Community” tab.

During the 2020 – 2021 school year, members of the MRUSD Leadership Team and Teachers from across the district wrote an Envisioning Plan to guide our work as the district moves forward from the COVID pandemic. The group developed a theory of action, which is:

If every MRUSD staff member commits to support all students’ social and emotional well-being and to provide engaging learning opportunities which support their safety and academic proficiency, then all Maple Run students will succeed as lifelong learners.

Please have a great last couple weeks of summer vacation. As my e-mail tag line states: “Always keep kids first!”

Sincerely,

 Bill Kimball
 Superintendent of Schools
