Dear Maple Run Community,
I am writing you to inform you that all MRUSD schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 21, 2022.
We are currently experiencing a large increase in the number of student COVID-19 cases and a shortage of staff across multiple schools. Our current estimate is that 75 staff members will be out across the district and we will not have the staff to provide essential school services (including classroom instruction and coverage). While some of these factors are localized to a few of our schools, closing individual schools creates a ripple effect that impacts all our schools, as a number of staff have children who attend different schools within our district.
School closure tomorrow will be considered a closure due to COVID cases, therefore, remote learning will not be available. Currently, the intention is to return to in-person learning on Monday, January 24, 2022. At all schools, all athletic activities and games will be allowed. Please contact your coach to confirm the time of the practice or game.
We need to be transparent with our community that the level of COVID-19 cases we are experiencing makes it impossible to provide students with a safe and supported education. We will reevaluate our ability to operate on Sunday evening. If MRUSD is closed further, we will communicate with you as soon as possible.
We all share the same goal of keeping students in school and must continue to work together to keep our schools open in the months ahead. Please continue to follow the guidelines around staying home when sick, quarantining, testing as needed, and keeping gatherings small. Thank you for your support through this extremely tough time.
