Busing and Transportation

Transportation Changes

For transportation changes, please:

Email SATEC-Transportation@maplerun.org

or

Use the Transportation Change Form

Changes will NOT be accepted after 1 pm on regular dismissal days and will NOT be accepted after 12 pm on Wednesdays (early release), unless there is an emergency. If there is an emergency after the cutoff time, please call the main office at 802-527-7191.

Bus passes to an alternative address(es) will NOT be accommodated, unless it is an emergency. Bus routes have reached, or are close to reaching, maximum capacity.

  • IMPORTANT: Wednesday dismissal: Please note that the bus will arrive an hour early every Wednesday. This time will not be reflected on the bus routes overview. Please be out at your stop for your student(s) 4th grade and below as an adult must be present.

  • IMPORTANT: Due to buses being at capacity, we will not transport students who live within city limits that attend SATEC even if the SATEC bus goes past your residence.

All stops are estimated times of arrival.

Students should be out at their stop at least five minutes before the scheduled time of arrival.

All students need to be in plain sight to ensure proper pick-up. The bus should not be expected to stop and honk if you are not visible. Please be out before the bus arrives.

Times could change due to traffic, weather, train crossings, students riding or not riding, etc.

Bus Safety Tips for Parents and Children

  • At bus stops, children should wait in a safe place away from the road. Never sit on the roadway or curb while waiting for your bus.

  • In low light conditions, it is helpful to wave a lighted device (flashlight, cell phone, etc.) as the bus approaches.

  • Children should never walk behind a bus and should stay away from bus wheels at all times.

  • When the bus stops, children should wait for the driver’s signal that it is safe to cross the road or board the bus.

  • Children should look both ways before crossing the street- look left, right and left again. Tell them to make eye contact to make sure the bus driver can see them as they cross the street.

  • On the bus, children should remain seated at all times and keep the aisle clear. Tell children not to put their head, hands or arms out the window.

  • Remind children to stop talking and remain silent when the bus comes to a railroad crossing so the driver can hear if a train is approaching.

  • Children should avoid any loud or disruptive behavior that could distract the bus driver from safely operating the bus.

  • Make sure your children know their bus driver’s name and bus number.

  • Tell children to never speak to strangers at the bus stop or get into the car with a stranger. Children should tell parents, the bus driver and a teacher at school if a stranger tries to talk to them or pick them up.
